Right from our origins in 1988, the Soapworks story has always been one of innovation, product quality and social responsibility

1988

Soapworks founded by Body Shop entrepreneur Dame Anita Rodick to bring employment opportunities to the local community of Easterhouse.

Develop our first ever range of translucent soaps.

1995

Gift Assembly line installed, allowing us to pack innovative, speciality gifts.

Launch a liquid filling production line for essential oils & home fragrance.

2000

Start supplying major UK High Street retailers alongside the Body Shop.

2002

Partner with Glasgow the Caring Community to supply Soap Aid to vulnerable communities worldwide.

2005

Achieve accreditation to the BRC Global Standard for Consumer Products and join the Sedex platform.

Introduce Pleat wrap line to supply hotel amenity sector.

2010

Management buyout heralds an exciting chapter in our history as we become a fully independent company.

RSPO Supply Chain Standard – Soapworks become the First Soap Tablet company in the world to be certified to the RSPO supply chain standard for responsibly sourced palm oil.

2013

Best Supplier – The Body Shop.

Soapworks achieves an EcoVadis ‘Gold Award’ for sustainability, placing us in the top 5% of companies rated in our sector.

2020

As part of our continuous improvement plan, we invest in two new soap presses.
